What is Pronouns?

Pronouns are a part of speech that are used to rename, refer to, and stand in for nouns. They can appear in the subject or object part of a sentence and can be used to create adjective clauses.
सर्वनाम भाषण का एक हिस्सा है जिसका उपयोग संज्ञाओं का नाम बदलने, संदर्भित करने और उनके स्थान पर खड़े होने के लिए किया जाता है। वे वाक्य के विषय या वस्तु भाग में प्रकट हो सकते हैं और विशेषण उपवाक्य बनाने के लिए उपयोग किए जा सकते हैं।

Types of Pronouns:

  1. Relative Pronouns are pronouns that are used to relate one part of the sentence to another.
    (जिनका प्रयोग वाक्य के एक भाग को दूसरे भाग से जोड़ने के लिए किया जाता है)
    Examples: that, which, where, when, why, what, whom and whose.
  2. Possessive Pronouns are pronouns that are used to show possession.
    (जिनका उपयोग स्वामित्व दर्शाने के लिए किया जाता है)
    Examples: mine, yours, his, hers, theirs and its.
  3. Reflexive Pronouns are pronouns that are used to refer back to the subject in the sentence.
    (जिनका उपयोग वाक्य में विषय को संदर्भित करने के लिए किया जाता है)
    Examples: myself, yourself, herself, himself, oneself, itself, ourselves, themselves and yourselves. 
  4. Demonstrative Pronouns are pronouns that are used to point to specific objects. 
    (जिनका उपयोग विशिष्ट वस्तुओं को इंगित करने के लिए किया जाता है)
    Examples: this, that, these and those.
  5. Interrogative Pronouns are pronouns that are used to ask questions.
    (जिनका प्रयोग प्रश्न पूछने के लिए किया जाता है)
    Examples: who, what, when, why and where.
  6. Indefinite Pronouns are pronouns that do not refer to any particular person, place or thing. 
    (जो किसी व्यक्ति, स्थान या वस्तु विशेष का बोध नहीं कराते)
    Examples: someone, somebody, somewhere, something, anyone, anybody, anywhere, anything, no one, nobody, nowhere
  7. Personal Pronouns are simple pronouns that are used to substitute proper names.
    (जिनका उपयोग उचित नामों के स्थान पर किया जाता है)
    Examples: I, you, he, she, we, they, him, her, he, she, us and them.
  8. Subject Pronouns are pronouns that perform the action in a sentence.
    ( जो वाक्य में क्रिया संपन्न कराते हैं)
    Examples: I, you, we, he, she, it, they and one.
  9. Object Pronouns are pronouns that receive the action in a sentence.
    (जो वाक्य में क्रिया का बोध कराते हैं)
    Examples: me, us, him, her and them.
  10. Reciprocal Pronouns are pronouns that are used to express a mutual relationship.
    (जिनका प्रयोग आपसी संबंध को व्यक्त करने के लिए किया जाता है।
    Examples: each other and one another.
